The verdict
Monticello Motor Club opened in 2008 and effectively wrote the playbook every other US private track club has followed since. Its 4.1-mile Catskills circuit is long, fast and genuinely difficult, and the club runs a mature calendar of arrive-and-drive, coaching and in-house racing. For New York, New Jersey and Connecticut members it remains the default answer.
